I'm thinking about branching out. I already offer cooking classes, but I'd love to offer a small scale culinary school and offer guest classes by some of my area's brilliant and talented chefs. However, I can't seem to find information on just how to become accredited.
Any ideas?

Re: How does one create a culinary school?
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 5:23 PMContact the US dept of Education for regional and national accredidation, and your state dept of Education repectively. Your faculty will also need to each be degreed in some form or another. -

Mon, December 3, 2007 - 8:28 PMIn canada you can get away with only running a certified school. More like a glorified wife course... good start.... you can get accredited though eventually...good way to get your foot in the door -

Re: How does one create a culinary school?
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 10:20 PMEeek...I've been doing some searching and it looks like way more than I can handle as a single parent with three school age kiddo's. I think I'll just stick with the classes for now and keep this dream on the backburner.
However, while doing all of this reconnaissance I came across some info on Alice Waters opening a culinary school in the next town over from me. Apparently it's all part of some elitest, gated though supposedly sustainable community with houses that start at 2.3 mil. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I was a huge supporter of her Slow Food movement, but this just seems like a cash cow movement.
